Bio:
I am Mexican. I grew up in Paso de Ovejas, a small
town in Veracruz State that is on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico.
My family is composed of Maria (my mother), Cleofis (my aunt), Marisol
(my sister who is studying for a Master's Degree in Veracruz), Omar
(my bother who is mechanical engineer), Daniel (my little brother
who is studying chemistry in the University of Veracruz), Kathia (my
nice girlfriend), and Laika (my dog).
I decided to study chemistry after I won a championship
in chemistry for the Veracruz State during high school. I went to
Xalapa to study Biological-Pharmaceutical-Chemistry in the University
of Veracruz, where I was an active member of my department organizing
several conferences every semester. During my last year I was student
counselor for my University and won one important assistantship to
spend one summer in a very important research center in Mexico (Centro
de Estudios Avanzados del Instituto Politecnico Nacional). In addition
my girl friend and I were Mexican delegates to three international
events: 1st North American Student Forum in Mexico (1999), European
Youth Congress in Germany during the World Expo celebrated in Hannover
(2000) and 2nd North American Student Forum in San Diego, USA (2001).
During my undergraduate studies I participated in
research in natural product and Organic chemistry with MS. Miguel
Dominguez and Dr Ernesto Juarez. Nowadays I am very happy in Dr Parkhurst
's group.
My hobbies: weight lifting training, volleyball,
visit museums and walk with my girl friend and dog. I am a fan of
Mexican Soccer team, but only during the World Cup.
Society Membership: North American Student
Forum.
